QFs position cleared in State Football | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 3: Quarterfinals line-up has been drawn with the entry of two more teams in the last eight stages of the XXIII State Football Championship underway at GGM Science College ground, here today. Now, three quarterfinals have been scheduled for tomorrow from 11 am onwards at the same venue with two top teams and title contenders, J&K Bank and J&K Police finding direct entry. Earlier, in first pre-quarterfinal of the day, Lone Star Kashmir blanked Param Football Club (FC) 4-0, courtesy superb game played by Wasiq, who netted three goals coming in 28th, 52nd and 70th minute of the match. Other goal came through Aquib in the 40th minute. In other third round match, District Football Association (DFA) Srinagar trounced DFA Anantnag in a neck to neck contest that could be decided only in sudden death 6-5. In the given time, the match ended in 1-1 draw. Earlier, DFA Srinagar took the first lead netting the ball on a penalty kick awarded in their favour in the 56th minute. The lead was equalized by Anantnag when Ahnan managed to break the strong defence line of Srinagar in the dying minutes of the game. Later, in tie-breaker, the game remained tied at 4-4. However, in the sudden death, Irfan beat the Anantnag goalkeeper for all important goal to make it a 6-5 win. FIXTURE: Quarterfinals: J&K Bank XI shall take on DFA Baramulla at 10.30 am; Accountant General's XI to meet DFA Srinagar at 11.30 am; J&K Police XI to meet Lone Star Kashmir Club at 3 pm tomorrow. |
