Emergence of BJP in JK giving sleepless nights to separatists | NC-Cong regime left no stone unturned to keep them happy | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 3: After failing to enforce poll boycott call in Kashmir, separatists are on tenterhooks as the emergence of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the second largest party in the recent held Assembly polls is giving sleepless nights to secessionists as they believe that they would have to close down their shops if BJP becomes the part of the next government in Jammu and Kashmir. Since the day Narendra Modi led government came into power in New Delhi it has shown no inclination towards holding any sort of dialogue with the separatists and has made it very clear that anyone who wants talk to Centre should shun secessionism and accept the Indian Constitution. "Modi led government making its Kashmir policy clear has made the separatists irrelevant. India made its policy clear after calling off Foreign Secretary level talks with Pakistan last year when the Pakistan High Commissioner in New Delhi Abdul Basit met Kashmiri separatists," said an analyst. "Modi government played a master stroke at that point of time and left Pakistan and separatists red faced," he added. Kashmir watchers are of the opinion that separatists fear that if BJP forms the next government in JK it would spell doom for them and the space which was provided to them by the Congress led UPA government in the Centre and NC led government in the state would get choked once for all. "BJP's agenda is clear that it's for the development of the state and it won't allow secessionist elements to call the shots," said a Kashmir watcher. An observer while talking to Early Times said, "In 2010 when separatists orchestrated protests for six months in Kashmir and took the entire Valley as hostage, the Chief Minister's political advisor Devender Singh Rana met Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani at Cheshmashahi sub jail and struck a deal with him. Soon after Rana-Geelani meeting Hurriyat hawk was released and he issued a statement against stone pelting." The observer claimed that during the past six years NC led government struck many overt and covert deals with separatists and even went out of way to help them. "If BJP comes into power in JK separatists will lose their say and won't have any ground left in Kashmir. That's why they are working overtime to keep BJP away from the government," he added. Sources said that Modi's tough posture and India not giving any space to Pakistan have hit the separatists under the belt. "The money which used to flow from Pakistan is slowly disappearing and their bosses sitting across the Line of Control are not happy with them. BJP assuming power in the state would serve as the last nail in the coffin of separatists and their business would end forever," they said. Separatists, reportedly have got it conveyed to National Conference to somehow, find a way out to keep them alive on the political arena of the Valley as a few separatists believe that NC is the only hope for them. "However, NC after losing badly in the recent elections too has turned its back towards them and party is trying to get cozy with BJP to ensure that it doesn't expose the misdeeds of the NC regime even if it has to sit in the opposition," said a source. |
