Jammu, Jan 4: The Jammu University authorities seem baffled with the ongoing developments in varsity as on one hand the authorities contested the Early Times report but reappointed the Coordinator thus vindicating the story of ET.
Sources informed Early Times that following report tabled by one member committee to review orders of former vice chancellor, the authorities few days back have reinstated, Prof Darshana Sharma, as coordinator, M. Ed. DDE.
"In first week of December, due to unknown reasons, acting vice chancellor Dr RD Sharma, constituted one members committee headed by Prof Dr. J P Singh Joorel, Department of Statistics to review the order of former Vice Chancellor Prof MPS Ishar", sources said, adding that the earlier decision was reviewed to facilitate Prof Darshana. Dr Darshana had conducted recently concluded Personal Contact Programme (PCP) M. Ed. session 2014-15, commencing from December 3, 2014. Threatening ET, the JU authorities sought material and the sources on the basis the news were published. "Before taking any legal action against your paper, you are hereby called upon to apologise for wrong reporting in your paper and take all measures by publishing actual position and clarify the wrong reporting already done so that the general public at large is apprised of the actual facts", the JU authorities threaten ET, adding that failing which University would be constrained to seek appropriate remedy under law entirely under your risk and responsibility both under civil and criminal law. Frustrated, JU authorities even wrote Press council of India, "With a request to take action against Early Times as warranted under law for publishing false concocted and frivolous stories causing severe damage to the reputation of the University of Jammu."
Dr Darshana Sharma was removed from the post of programme coordinator M. Ed DDE after a case of copy in Directorate of Distance Education surfaced. Without giving opportunity, contractual Lecturer Dr Nasreen, University administration had issued an order regarding non-renewal of her services in copy case. Meanwhile, the candidate Modh Iqbal M.Ed. who was indulged in copy was barred for two years. Director Distance Education University of Jammu Prof VD Singh did not pick the phone comment despite after repeated attempt made by this journo.
