JAMMU, Jan 3: Notwith-standing the terms and conditions and laws of the Associations as well as the Sports Council of Jammu and Kashmir, some people are allegedly grabbing money from the parents of the sportsperson in the name of participation in National level championships.
As in a recent case where a person affiliated to the Ex president of the federation on being blacklisted by the association dealing with the game is seen prowling money in heavy figures from the parents of the children desirous to take part in the championship.
Atul Pangotra, (International player of Taekwondo and member of the association) told Early Times that some miscreants are trying to grab money from the players in the name of National level Championship of Taekwondo at Delhi which is totally fake. He further said that only Jammu and Kashmir Taekwondo association is the recognised body in J&K as is affiliated to Taekwondo Federation of India which is intern affiliated to the World Taekwondo Federation and Indian Olympic Association and recognized by Department of Youth Affairs and, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India. He added that the association also circulated a press release issued by the President JKTA, P C Sharma in this regard stating the conduct of Ajaz Rasool, a blacklisted member of J&K Taekwondo Association.
The statement reads that Ajaz Rasool Mir, who is presently working in Presentation Convent, Raj Bagh, Srinagar as a PET was blacklisted from JKTA for misguiding students in the name of Taekwondo and taking money from them to fill his pocket. He was also barred from conducting any activity of Taekwondo.
Now, recently on 23rd Nov, 2014 Taekwondo Federation of India conducted a General Body Meeting and in that meeting “ No Confidence” motion was passed against the Ex President of TFI Renu Mahant and her Husband Harish Kumar (Retd, IPS) who was working as the chairman of the federation and for the smooth conduct of Taekwondo Fedration of India activities till next General Body meeting, Raj Kakati was nominated by all state members as the acting president of TFI and all the circulars signed by Ex-President Renu Mahant dated after 23rd Nov, 2014 will be null and void but notwithstanding the rules they appointed the already blacklisted person namely Ajaz Rasool Mir as the Chairman of Technical committee by bye passing the State Association as well as National Federation and started grabbing money in the name of National C’ships which are not valid or recognized at the Indian Olympic Association, Ministry of Youth affairs and Sports, Govt of India and nor by J&K state Sports council. The statement further reads that Mir charged more than 10000 rupees from each player for the said fraud championship which will be taken in National championships free of cost after their proper selection and screening through a particular process as in the rules of J&K State Sports Council but Ajaz Rasool Mir is taking students without any screening and selection just on the basis of heavy payment of money. This championship being fraud in nature as the genuine championships are going to be held next month in New Delhi as conveyed to us by Acting President TFI, Raj Kakati and after getting invitation from the Federation we are going to start the selection process followed by a 21 days camp to take part in the championship.
JKTA appeals to all District Heads, parents, Players, Officials & Head of Institutions to protect the talent of our state from getting exploited by these cunning hands and save innocent players to participate in fake championships. It is a humble request to Hon’ble Secretary J&K State Sports Council and all the Members of J&K State Sports Council. look into the matter sympathetically and take appropriate action against the culprits and JKTA humble request to all print and electronic media to highlight the matter so that future of upcoming players in not marred. Sports officer when contacted said that the council will take strict action against the culprits if any.
