11,482 disabled among 45,468 children of 6-13 yrs out of school: Survey | Education to All remains a distant dream in JK | | Bivek Mathur Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 3: In a major concern for the hilly state of Jammu and Kashmir, startling revelations have come to fore from reports of "National Sample Survey of Estimation of out-of-school Children in the age group of 6-13 in India". As per the survey conducted for the year 2013-14, there are total 2227225 children in the age group of 6-13 in Jammu and Kashmir out of which 45468 children are still out of school which constitute 2.04% of total children out of schools. The survey also reads that there are 29,200 children in Jammu and Kashmir in the same age group who never enrolled whereas the percentage of these students out of total out of school children is 64.22 percent. "There are 13,982 dropout students in the same age group who constitute 30.75 percent of the total children who are out of school", the survey further reads. The survey further reads that 2287 students that constitute 5.03 percent of the total children who are out of school are enrolled but never attended the school. There are 11,482 disabled children in the age group of 6-13 years who are out of school and constitute 14.09 percent of the total out of school students whereas the report reads that J&K government has got success to give education to all the children living in slums in the age group of 6-13 years. As per the reports, there are 2.51 male children in the age group of 6-13 years of age who could not attend school whereas the percentage for female children in the same age group is 1.26 percent. As far as the percentage of children out of school in the same group from rural areas is concerned, there are 2.62 percent children who could not attend school in rural areas. There is no student in urban areas, as per the reports who could not attend school. |
