Rajouri, Jan 3: Members of minority community of Jawahar Nagar locality of Rajouri city today observed a bandh against the alleged police harassment of the community youth. Alleging that the police role was partial, the agitated community members decided to continue their strike indefinitely till the youth were released. On Friday, the agitated youth from minority community pelted stones on a police vehicle to show their resentment against the delayed action on part of police and in the resulting clash, four policemen including a Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and two youth, were injured and hospitalised. Police have registered a case against the miscreants who attacked the police vehicle. In this connection, three youth from the minority community were arrested by the police. Reliable sources said that in December last, a majority community youth was beaten up in a clash between the two communities in the town. As the police party reached Jawahar Nagar Bazar in a Tata Sumo, some minority community members stoned it, resulting in injuries to four policemen. Police have registered another case under 307 of RPC (attempt to murder) against some unidentified miscreants who attacked the police party and damaged police vehicle and in resentment, members of the minority community today observed bandh against alleged police highhandedness.
