JAMMU, Jan 3: National Panthers Party (NPP) has demanded legal action against the close associates of Udhampur MLA Pawan Gupta who were allegedly involved in the harassment of party workers in different areas of the district. A NPP deputation led by its Udhampur city president Gulshan Kesar called on additional SP, Udhampur, and submitted him a memorandum in this regard. He alleged that the MLA's supporters beat up NPP worker Shankar Chand and his family members, including his wife and children, at Danota on December 23 last at about 10 pm. Instead of booking the alleged culprits, the concerned police booked Chand, he alleged. PP workers were also harassed and beaten up allegedly by the MLA's supporters in Mand, Tikri, Malhar, Ritti, Jib and Thathi areas of the district, Kesar alleged. In the memorandum, it has been alleged that some of his workers were also involved in the smuggling of drugs and anti-social activities. He demanded the constitution of a SIT (special investigation team) to probe into these allegations against the MLA's supporters. |
