Under Op Sadhbhavna, Army dedicates 20KV Gen Set at holy shrine of 'Baba Reshi' | | | Syed Tahir Bukhari Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Jan 3: The Indian Army which traditionally defends the borders of nation while accepting multi task responsibilities, be it a rescue work in flood ravaged valley or providing aid to accident victims or victim of other natural calamities, the 'army' continuing its goodwill gesture dedicated a 20 KV generator to the revered shrine of Baba Reshi, besides providing books and other essential items to the needy students in Tangamarag area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district. Army sources said that in a formal 'dedication' ceremony, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 15 Chinar Corps, Lt Gen Subrata Saha donated a 20 KV generator to the revered shrine of Baba Reshi, besides this army also provided books and other essential items to the needy students in Tangamarag area of North Kashmir's Baramulla district. They said Lt Gen Saha today paid a visit to the revered shrine and dedicated a 20 KV generator to the shrine. "Due to an overload on the existing electricity infrastructure, especially during the winter months, devotees visiting the Shrine and staff members faced considerable inconvenience," sources added. "The Baba Payam-Us-Din Shrine Authorities had approached the local Army Formation with a request for installation of a 20 KVA Generator at the Shrine. Early Times have learnt from sources that, under OP Sadhbhavna initiatives Army accordingly provisioned a 20 KVA generator to the Shrine- Baba Payam-ud-Dins Ziyarat near Tangmarg which is a symbol of the rich secular heritage and traditions of Kashmir ethos and attracts devotees from across the valley that too from different faiths. Lt Saha who offered traditional a holy Chaddar at the Shrine and prayed for peace and prosperity of people in state also distributed blankets/utility items to the very needy and gifted school uniforms and sports kits to children from local schools. Thereafter during his interaction with the Shrine Board Members, he was quite appreciative of their role in upholding the culture and traditions of the Valley and assured them of the Army's commitment towards ensuring peace and security in the region. Meanwhile the local residents and the Shrine Board Members were appreciative of the efforts of the Army. Pertinent to mention in Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian Army has extended its mandate to rebuild the lives of people devastated by terrorism. It is pertinent to mention here that operation Sadbhavana is aimed at helping the people to help themselves. Under OP Sadhbhavna- Army acts as a facilitator and catalyst for development projects that are identified jointly with the state administration and the people and its endevour is concentrated on welfare projects at the village level and in remote areas. Under Op Sadhbhavna the army has not only constructed a large number of bridges and roads but also set up water supply schemes and electrified a number of remote villages. |
