List of trains cancelled, delayed due to fog

NEW DELHI, Jan 3: For the third consecutive day, fog remained inconspicuous in most parts of North India. East India also reported fairly clear weather but visibility reduced to 100 meters in Bangalore and Chennai.
On Saturday morning only few parts of north India reported dense fog. Amritsar reported nil visibility but Chandigarh remained fog free.
Dwarka, Nioda Expressway, Palam and Vikas puri reported only shallow fog. Other parts of the national capital were devoid of any fog.
Indira Gandhi International Airport (Palam) reported some rain around 4 am and the visibility reduced to 400 meters. As a result, air traffic was also affected in Delhi causing delay in departure of five and cancellation of four flights. At the arrival, 3 flights were delayed while, 7 flights were cancelled.
Fog makes a comeback in few major cities of Uttar Pradesh including Varanasi reporting zero, Allahabad 200 meters and Agra 100 meters. Lucknow reported only shallow for with 600 meters of lowest visibility. Gaya in Bihar reported 800 meters of visibility. Visibility dropped to 500 meters in Ranchi and 600 meters in Raipur.
Dense fog hampers air traffic across India
Nonetheless, rail traffic remains affected with 39 trains being delayed across the contry. A few trains running behind schedule include Nauchandi Express (Saharanpur - Allahabad) by 7 hours, Puroshotam Express (Puri - Delhi) by 12 hours, Nandankanan Express (Puri - Delhi) by 17 hours,
Foggy weather in winters generally delays trains originating either from Patna or Delhi. The stretch between Tundala and Allahabad, which come under the Allahabad division of North Central Railway remains the worst affected.
