Street Warriors, Singh Challenger in semis

AKHNOOR, Jan 7: Street Warriors and Singh Challenger today won their respective league ties to qualify for the semifinals of the ongoing IIIrd Christmas Cup Twenty20 Tournament, organised by Singh Cricket Club at Government Higher Secondary School ground, here.
The hosts, Singh Cricket Club, has already placed in the next round of semifinals. In today's league matches, Street Warriors outplayed Manorajan Cricket Club (MCC) Akhnoor by three wickets.
Batting first, MCC bowled out for 83 runs in 19.2 overs. Pardeep Singh made highest 16 runs while Sunny Sharma and Sahil Powar contributed 10 and 12 runs respectively. From Street Warriors Akhnoor, Deepak Singh took three wickets while Aman and Lucky shared two each.
In reply, Street Warriors chased the total making 84 runs for seven wickets in 15 overs. Deepak Sharma remained top scorer with 19 runs, followed by Pankaj Jamwal and Manga Sharma, who added 11 runs each. Paredeep Singh and Sahil Powar clinched two wickets each.
For his all-round performance, Lucky named man of the match for important two wickets giving away just six runs in four overs.
Meanwhile, in other league match, Singh Challenger defeated Mandhrian Tigers by 66 runs. Earlier, batting first, Singh Challenger made 150 runs for nine wickets. Sunny Kumar played fine innings of 23-ball 42 runs, followed by Ajay Kumar, who made 28-ball 38 runs. Atul Sudan added valuable 26 runs off 21 balls. Mukesh and Sandy took two wickets each while Bodhi, Deepu and Monu shared apiece each.
Batting second, Mandhrian Tigers lost all their wickets for 84 runs in 15 overs. Sunny Sharma and Deepak added 12 runs each while Munna contributed 18. From Singh Challenger, Rajesh Sharma secured three wickets while Sunny Kumar and Mukul Dubey shared two each.
For his all-round performance, Sunny Kumar was obvious choice for the man of the match title. Today's matches officiated by Vikas Bali and Anil Kumar as umpires while Deepak Kumar was scorer.
