Recruitment scam surfaces in Budgam as non-deserving get selected as class IV employees | | | Shakeel A Khan
Early Times Report BUDGAM, Jan 7: A recruitment scam has surfaced in this Central Kashmir district wherein serious allegations have been leveled against Chief Education Officer (CEO) Budgam, Nazir Ahmad Dar that he received money in lieu of class IV appointments in the district. The candidates who could not make it to the posts have raised protest against the mass 'irregularities'. The candidates alleged that the deserving candidates have been dropped from the selection list while as the blue eyed ones have been considered for the selection. "The norms have been thrown to the wind while filling the class IV posts in the education department. My son has got 85 percent marks in Matric and 80 percent in 12th class but has failed to find his name in the final list. Instead, many candidates have made it to the final list whose percentage is far below than that of my son's," said Ghulam Hassan Khatana. Khatana went to the extent saying that CEO and his sub-ordinates had already taken the serial numbers of the candidates who have been favoured in the selection process. By acting in such a way the CEO has crossed the highest level of 'cheating'. The left out candidates blame the CEO of the district for having received hefty amount against the selections made. The selection list according to the left out candidates has been manipulated so much so that the top merit holders have found no place in the list. It is pertinent to mention here that the office of Chief Education Officer, Budgam had issued a notification wide number CEOB/NT/ADVER/14-99349 dated 5/2/2014 inviting applications from the eligible candidate for filling the class IV posts. Some dropped candidates while talking to Early Times said that the process of filling of the vacancies consumed too much of time. When the candidates made hue and cry against the delay in the publication of the list the CEO was left with no choice, but to come out with the list, said these candidates. "We have come to know that the CEO was about to handover the appoint letters without publishing the list. We pursued very hard and got the list published but to our utter disappointment despite having the top merit, I couldn't get selected," said Mohammad Iqbal Khatana having the serial number 1267. He went on saying that candidates namely Feroz Hussain Khatana, Hamaz Aheera and Mushtaq Ahmad Kales with the serial numbers 1268, 1272 and 1274 respectively, failed to get selected despite being leading merit holders. Despite repeated calls the CEO could not be contacted for his comment. Instead his daughter while attending to one of the calls said the officer is not available. Later on the mobile phone of the CEO got switched off. |
