JAMMU, Jan 7: Top Shuttler, Vipul Saini shall be playing against Divam in the men's singles final slated for tomorrow morning in the ongoing 29th Jammu District Badminton Championship, organised by Jammu City and District Badminton Association, at Police Indoor hall, here. In the semifinals, played today, Vipul outplayed Sunil in straight sets of 21-08, 21-09 while Divam Gupta defeated Vasu 21-12, 21-09. The women's singles title bagged by Diksha, who outplayed Prabhjyot 21-19, 21-14. Diksha, pairing with Akanksha, also won the women's doubles title beating Prabhjyot and Diksha 21-14, 21-10. Earlier, young Divam clinched the under-19 boys' singles title beating Raghav Dogra 2-1 (21-14, 16-21, 21-12). The under-19 girls' singles title went to Peehushi, who beat Naman 21-15, 19-21, 21-16. In under-19 girls doubles final, the pair of Naman and Peehushi trounced Rashmi and Kajal in easy straight sets of 21-03, 21-07. Meanwhile, in veteran group, the pair of Anil and Sunil won the plus 55 year category final beating the duo of Kiran Wattal and Balbir Jamwal 21-18, 21-16. In veteran doubles 45 plus age group, Sunil and Anil Gorkha pair trounced Narinder Khajuria and Raju in straight sets of 21-14, 21-18. In veteran plus 45 age group, Ramesh Sharma has qualified for the final beating Vivek Slathia in close contest 2-1 (23-21, 21-19, 25-23) in the semifinals. |
