ATMA organizes training programme on Silkworm rearing | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 7: Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) today organized a training programme on Silkwarm rearing here at Jhajjar Kotli of Dansal Block. According to press release, Project Director ATMA Dr. V. S. Verma welcome the officials from Sericulture Department, for their cooperation in organizing the training and farmers for attending the training camp. He asserted that silkworm rearing was quite remunerating and emphasized that farmers should adopted it as an additional occupation for supplementing their farm income, besides pouring more in the production stock of the nation. Anju Koul, Deputy Director, Sericulture Department apprised the farmers that the silk cocoon of this state is preferred by the buyers from other parts of the country due to its superior quality fetching higher value to the farmers and manifests great prospects to change the socio-economic status of farmers. She appreciated Makhno Devi, a the progressive rearing farmer of Jhajjar Kotli who enhanced her cocoon production from 70 kg in 2013 to 120 kg in 2014 earning an additional income of twenty two thousand rupees, besides her usual agricultural farming and exhorted other farmers to take a cue from her for adoption of silkworm rearing for supplementing their farm income vis-à-vis contributing in silk production of the country. |
