Jammu, Jan 7: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J), going to organize 7thNational Seminar of the national society for Community Mobilization for Sustainable Development on Sustainable Rural Livelihood Technological and Institutional Perspective from January 8 to 10 at Chatha. Addressing the media persons, Director Extension and Co-patron of seminar Dr KS Risam said the division of SKUAST Jammu, is hosting the national seminar, offers undergraduate, master's and doctoral programmes to develop human resource in the field of extension education besides researches and outreach engagement for the social benefits of farming community and line departments. "In the seminar, renowned agricultural scientist and former and present vice chancellor shall discuss and formulate the roadmap for futuristic agriculture extension models and approaches will be primarily focusing on Inda's small holders farmers and comprising of 78 percent of the country's farmers," he informed, adding these small holders farmers own 33 percent of the total cultivate land and produce 14 percent of the country's food gains. He further informed that the seminar shall comprise of six technical sessions namely Market Driven Farming System, Agribusiness, Rural Tourism and Capacity Development, Technologies for Stressed Agriculture and Role of Information Communication Technology in Agriculture. "Renowned scientist, former chairperson of Protection of Plant Varieties and Farmer's Rights Authority Dr PL Gatuam will be chief guest," he said. About 300 delegates from research, academics and extension from all over India are participating in the national seminar. |
