No potable water for Vaishno Devi pilgrims at main bus stand | | | AB Sharma Early Times Report
Reasi, Apr 3: Thousands of Vaishno Devi pilgrims visit the main bus stand at Katra here every day, but they have to leave thirsty, as potable water facility is not present in the busy area. Officials said under norms the government was duty-bound to install drinking water facility. "It was the duty of the PHE to install some taps so that the devotees don't face any inconvenience. But to facilitate more sale of bottled water, the district administration is silent on the issue," said a delegation of locals. A poor pilgrim said he spent around Rs 5,00 to quench thirst of his family during the pilgrimage. "We have saved money out of hardships for the pilgrimage, but even ending thirst is not free here," the pilgrim said. A senior officer said it was failure on the part of the administration. Meanwhile the locals have appealed the Deputy Chief Minister Dr Nirmal Singh to personally look into the matter. |
