| SBA turns farce for meeting 100 percent target | | | A B Sharma

Sunderbani, Apr 3: Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in block Sunderbani, district Rajouri has been reduced to a mere eyewash as reports submitted by Village Level Workers (VLWs) and Block Development officer of the region are contrary to what is visible on the ground.
Block Sunderbani has 12 panchayats, out of which in three panchyatas viz Nala Makol, Patrara and Talla, only 40 percent of the work has been executed with provision of toilets to various houses under the SBA, while in the remaining 12 panchayats, less than 20 percent has been done . "This is quite contrary to what the officials in the Rural Development Department have projected to the centre about SBA nearly touching its 100 percent completion till Oct 2, 2019," said a Gram Sevak of a panchayat in Sunderbani block. Similar were the views of the people of different panchayats who say that officers in Sunderbani block have been befooling the people and not executing works on ground.
"The Village Level Worker frequented various houses in panchayats and even took photographs of the houses and the areas where toilets were to be constructed. It seems that they have been completing a fake exercise for submission to the centre," said Gyano Devi of Panchayat The people of Sunderbani block held the Block Development officer, Sunderbani as well as the Village Level Workers responsible for befooling the people over Swacch Bharat Abhiyan.
BDO Sunderbani did not respond to the desperate calls of the people of the panchayat . The people of the area have now requested Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Shahid Iqbal to personally intervene in the matter and address the problems of the people. |
