VC runs Delhi, University faces students' anger | Agitating students locked all entrance for 4 hours on Tuesday | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 3: In the absence of Vice Chancellor and cold response to legitimate demands of students from administration, the agitating students on Tuesday kept hostage entire staff for four hours. A minor scuffle between students and staff on Tuesday took place, when the staff tried to forcefully open the gate of University. "The Vice Chancellor, Prof R D Sharma is in Delhi, and escaping students' anger, the acting VC, Prof Jigar Mohd. Dean Research Studies, called a meeting of teaching and non-teaching staff", sources said and added that in the meeting it was unanimously decide to declare two day holidays in campus, as in the absence of VC, no decision into students' demands can be taken. "However, the Special Secretary Vice Chancellor, Neeraj Sharma informed the develop VC telephonically, who adamantly turned down the unanimous decision, and advised them call police", sources said. Meanwhile, the agitating students on Tuesday kept all the entrance of University locked, and no one was allowed to leave the campus till 2p.m. "Even entry into residential areas was not allowed by the students", they said and added that like VC the state government has also turned deaf ear over students' genuine issues. |
