BJP discuss Ladakh but UT demand missing ! | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 3: As Parliamentary elections are approaching, BJP has started luring those people to whom the party has shamelessly betryead to keep Kashmir centric parties in good humour. On Monday, BJP convened a meeting of party;'s Ladakh unit in connection with the coming Lok Sabha elections. Party discussed many issues but the core issue of granting Union Territory (UT) status to Ladakhis was missing. Shockingly BJP during 2014 polls had promised to grant UT status to Ladakh and it was all due this promise the party had first time won Lok Sabha seat from Ladakh. After getting power, BJP has shamelessly abodoned UT demand to keep Kashmir centric mainstream and separatist parties in good humour. Like people of Jammu, BJP's Think Tank in Delhi, with the connivance power hungry local leaders, have taken people of Ladakh for granted. They have an impression that people of Jammu and Ladakh have no option but to vote for them. Stiffling aspirations and wishes of the people of Jammu and Ladakh, BJP tried its best to appease Kashmir centric parties. Meanwhile as per official handout issued by the party on Monday, "To firm party's stand in the Ladakh keeping eye on approaching election in the region, BJP National Vice-President & Prabhari J&K State Avinash Rai Khanna along with BJP State President Sat Sharma, State General Secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul, State General Secretaries Dr. Narinder Singh and Pawan Khajuria conducted a crucial meeting with leaders from the Leh and Kargil". "Issues like increasing the employment in the region while stressing on the entrepreneurship and local avenues were taken up. It was also discussed in the meeting that there should be more transparency in the recruitment process and the concerned agencies. It was decided in the meeting to stress for the fast track work on the recruitment in all offices". Notable there was no mention of granting UT to Ladakh which is main demand of the people of cold desert. |
