| Dogs rule the roost in GMC&H Jammu | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 23: Welcome to Jammu's biggest hospital, Government Medical College and Hospital Jammu, a place where dogs lay on beds and roam outside the emergency ward of the hospital. A picture of a dog taking a nap on a bed has gone viral on social media.
The GMC&H Jammu also hit media limelight in 2012 when a monkey was found sleeping on the beds of emergency ward and a media person also had uploaded a video on Youtube on July 19, 2012, showing monkey freely roaming in the emergency wing of the hospital.
The pictures have been circulated on WhatsApp groups, facebook and other social networking sites, which show that a dog was sleeping on the patient's bed and another picture shows that three dogs were standing outside the emergency ward of the hospital and social networking users made fun of hospital administration for the mess.
If employees are to be believed, the dogs can often be seen moving and resting inside the hospital, causing great inconvenience to visitors as there is no dare to stop them.
The dogs not only roam around throughout the day but also spread litter and secrete in and around the wards. Regular visitors to the GMC&H Jammu premises complain that on a number of occasions the hospital authorities have been requested to take care of the dog menace and find a permanent solution to the problem but till date, no sincere effort has been made by the hospital authorities to address the issue.
The situation is grim during evenings and it becomes difficult for the patients and their attendants to shoo away the dogs, an employee said adding that a guard manning the gates usually keep an eye on the movement of visitors to the hospital premises but if a stray dog manages to gain access inside the premises it is very difficult to scare it as it will create chaos within the hospital. |
