Early Times Report
UDHAMPUR, Jan 23: Ratifying the allegations that the legitimate dues of the poor and underprivileged people are often usurped by the influential and undeserving, a former Minister and his family members have been listed amongst the beneficiaries of the Ayushman Bharat health insurance Scheme launched for the poor people of the country.
Former MoS and MLA Udhampur, Pawan Kumar Gupta, his wife Manju Gupta , son Deepanshu Gupta and brother Rajesh Gupta and his family also have found their names in these lists of beneficiaries under the scheme and all the snapshots of their family members have gone viral on social media.
WHILE ex MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia said that former MoS wants to gain every benefit of government schemes depriving the poor of their due. The scheme Ayushman Bharat was meant for ensuring treatment to the poor people from deadly diseases with the finance through insurance.
"Prime Minister, Narinder Modi launched Ayshuman Health Insurance Scheme for poor people to enable them treatment upto Rs 5 lakh, but maximum beneficiaries of this scheme remained rich people like hotel owners, other businessmen" said a vendor.
Krishna-a housewife said that her husband was a mason by profession and being very poor, they expected to be benefitted by the scheme. "We had high expectations from the health insurance scheme but our name was nowhere in the list of beneficiaries which has left us very sad," she told.
The anguished people of Udhampur have threatened to stage a protest and appealed the Governor S.P Malik to look into the matter.
Many allege that political influence worked in finalising the lists leaving which excluded the poor people and included the rich and affluent.
