Early Times Report
udhampur, May 29: Tall claims of the Health department to provide the health facilities at the door steps of the common masses are nothing but a hoax.
Locals told Early Times that the New Type Primary Heath centre (NTPHC) at Nallah Ghoran in Ghordi Block of District Udhampur is running without a doctor as well as a Medical Assistant and people have been left to fend for themselves. "Only two nursing orderlies are running the show," they said.
The village which consists of over seven thousand (7000) souls. "The irony is that the nursing orderly has been performing the duty of a doctor at the centre," locals said.
As per the medical rules, New Type Primary Health centre (NTPHC) must consist of a specialist doctor and some technicians as well like X-ray, technician and lab technician but the centre is not even having a specialised doctor and other facilities seem to be a distant dream.
Rattan Chand Panch of Nallah Ghoran while talking to Early times slammed the government for turning a blind eye towards the falling standard of health in far flung and remote Villages. "State government is making tall claims of improving the health standard in government hospitals but on ground situation is contrary," For this, they blamed to the negligence of the higher officials of the health department he added. ""We have been suffering now since many months as there is no doctor to look after the patients only two Nursing orderlies has been performing the doctor's duty at the centre.
He added that Nursing Orderly (NO) are specifically meant for bedding and cleaning in the hospital and are without any training which clearly indicates that they can neither treat nor they can write prescriptions but in this New type Primary Health Centre the matter is reversible.
He added that crores of rupees were spent to construct the building of NTPHC but there is no benefit to the Villagers.
Medical assistant is not seen anywhere. "In case of any emergency we have to run to other areas,"
Number of locals said that it is better to die at home rather than go to this so called New type Primary Health centre for treatment. Governor Jammu and Kashmir state , District Administration as well as Department of health should look into the ground realities and should provide necessary staff.
Chief Medical Officer Udhampur assured action and instructed the concerned Block Medical officer to submit a report in this regards.
