J&K BJP leaders projecting PM Modi's victory as their personal win

Early Times Report
Jammu, May 29: Leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party seem to have mistaken the mandate which the country has given to the Prime Minister elect Narendra Modi as their "personal victory." It seems that they have forgotten people across the country voted for Modi only and many voters were not even aware about the names of the BJP candidates who were in the fray.
Soon after the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, led BJP to an empathic win in the recently held Lok Sabha elections, the BJP leaders in Jammu and Kashmir started telling the people that party would win at least 50 Assembly seats in J&K and the next Chief Minister of the state would be from Jammu.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Everyone is aware of the fact that the entire country voted for Modi as the people wanted him back. It's after a longtime that India has got a strong leader like Modi and people didn't want him to lose. He (Modi) during his first term took bold decisions and gave befitting reply to Pakistan and the terrorists sponsored by them."
He said that the recently held Parlaimentray polls just revolved around Narendra Modi and there was no other leader in the fray. "The forthcoming Assembly elections in the state would be the real test for the BJP leaders. They shared power with the Peoples Democratic Party in J&K for more than three years but their performance was dismal," he added.
A Kashmir watcher said that in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections BJP established its lead in 30 Assembly segments of which 29 were in Jammu region and one in Kashmir. "Even if we go by this number BJP will still fall short of 14 seats to form the government in the state. In 2014 also BJP had promised the people in Jammu that after winning the elections the party would ensure that the Chief Minister is from Jammu. But after the election results were declared the BJP leaders couldn't even convince the PDP to have a rotational Chief Minister in the state. They (BJP leaders) should stop showing dreams to people and promise what they can deliver rather than making an attempt to divide the state on the religious lines."
He said that BJP ministers acted as second fiddles in the PDP led government and went out of way to appease the Kashmir centric politicians. "They should stop taking people for a ride. When they were in power their lips were sealed. They never raised their voice against the PDP for ignoring Jammu," he added.
"The BJP won all the three parliamentary seats in Jammu and Ladakh regions due to the Modi wave. The Assembly elections they would have to fight on their individual performances and hollow promises won't help them to get votes," he added.
