| Forest Dept seizes vehicle with forest produce | | |

Jammu, Feb 10: After receiving specific information regarding illegal movement of Forest Produce, a team of Forest Officials including by Vijay Kumar and Vikas Singh was constituted by Alok Maurya DFO Jammu.
The team laid a naka on Ranjan - Bhalwal road and seized a Tata Mobile bearing registration No:-JK02AK-6817 loaded with firewood of Broad leave species. The driver of the vehicle namely Rakesh Singh S/o Kamal Singh R/o Ranjan failed to produce any valid document regarding transportation of firewood. During the preliminary enquiry the driver of the vehicle stated that the firewood is taken to Shama Chak Baba Talab. The Vehicle was seized under relevant sanctions of Indian
Forest Act and confiscation proceedings are reported to be initiated shortly. The Range Officer Jammu is entrusted for further investigation of this case.
While contacting DFO Jammu he mentioned that Forest Department had conducted search operations to apprehend the smugglers engaged in the illegal movement of firewood/timber. He also appealed to the traders in General to refrain from illegal trading of Forest Produce. |
