District hospital Udhampur present near the side of national highway and darh road and severals of critical cases of road mishaps and other such cases are coming in this hospital but due to the lack of trauma centre they were referred to Government Medical College Jammu or outside J&K even some are died on the way when they were referred but health department of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir yet to be made functional of this trauma centre
Insiders Sources informed that Aproximatly four month back then Jammu and Kashmir State Administrative Council (SAC) on 23 oct 2019 accorded sanction to the creation of 102 posts for three Trauma Centres including udhampur distric hospital trauma centre will get 34 posts which include one post each of consultant surgeon, physician, gynaecologist, pediatrics, anaesthesia, ophthalmology, orthopedics and radiology.
Three posts of medical officer, two posts of lab technician, seven posts of junior nurse, two posts each of of X-ray assistant, lab assistant, theatre assistant, theatre boy and ward boy and four posts of nursing orderly under the chairmanship of then governor satay pal Malik And it’s reality due to the absence of sanctioned staff, the trauma centres is not being made functional even almost four month completed ,Jammu and Kashmir state has been converted into union territory but on the till date posts will not created due to the negligence of health department. When contacted, Superintendent of District Hospital Udhampur said that 34 posts including those of doctors and other staff were sanctioned by the health department and when these will be filled the Trauma Centre will become functional.
However, insiders further have informed that due to lack of technical staff and sophisticated instruments of latest technology the Trauma Centre is not being made functional.
DC Udhampur when contacted too responded similarly. “Some technically trained staff and specialist doctors and modern instruments are yet to be procured to make the Trauma Centre functional,” the DC informed.
However, different sections of the society are expecting that the Centre should be made functional as soon as possible so that the public may heave a sigh of relief.
