High-command directs local Cong leaders not to raise demand of restoring Art 370 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 10: Fearing backlash of the people, Congress top leadership has directed local leaders not to speak in favour of Article 370. Local leaders have been directed to not to raise any demand to bring back Article 370 back in J&K. Credible sources said that party’s top leadership is of the view that demanding restoration of Article 370 would be proved counter-productive in the country so there is no need to raise this demand. Congress leadership has reconciled with the fact that Article 370 is now a history so there is no need to raise this demand because it will be proved counter-productive in the country. Earlier during two-day convention of the party, central leaders namely Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni had avoided speaking on Article 370. Instead of demanding restoration of Article 370, Congress top leaders had demanded restoration of statehood. Congress has reconciled with the fact the Article 370 was not going to be restored in the erstwhile state of J&K so party leadership has directed local leaders against speaking on this issue. As per media reports, during January 16-17 meeting discussion on situation emerged after abrogation of Article 370 was held during but majority of the participants stressed that instead of demanding its restoration the party should rather raise demand of statehood and job and land rights for natives of J&K. There was unanimity among leaders that restoration of Article 370 demand was not going to be fulfilled so it is better to avoid this issue. |
