EARLY TIMES REPORT

JAMMU, Feb 10: In a major success against terror modules, Kishtwar police has managed to arrest a most wanted Over Ground Worker (OGW) and Hizb terrorist.
The arrested terrorist has been identified as Rustum Ali of Hunjala Kishtwar. He was apprehended from Dool-Nagsini area, months after he went underground following the arrest of an Auto Driver Nissar Ahmed and a local Imam of Bunastan Masjid Kishtwar who helped the Kishtwar police to put off the lid from the major terror network that was operating in Kishtwar town involving high profile people.
As per the details available with Early Times, Rustum Ali was named as one of the conspirators in the killings of RSS leader Chanderkant Sharma, BJP State Secretary Anil Parihar and his brother Ajeet Parihar. He was absconding since last over three months following the disclosure of Kishtwar Police that it solved both the murder cases as well as series of weapon snatching incidents.
The rumours about the arrest of Rustum Ali was in the air since last month, however, senior officials at Kishtwar denied his arrest.
“We have arrested Rustum Ali and will handover him to NIA,” SSP Kishtwar Harmeet Singh told Early Times— however he did not elaborat about the time and the area from where he was arrested. He said that the investigation in various cases registered by the Kishtwar police against the OGWs and other terror related modules is still going on adding that it is premature to share any information about the ongoing investigation.
More then two dozen OGWs including influential persons were named in several FIRs registered by Kishtwar police against the OGWs and terror sympathisers who helped the terrorists as well as provided them the logistic support.
The arrested militant Rustum was a mason and used to construct hideouts for the militants. He constructed hideouts in outskirts of Kishtwar town in such a way that it remains unnoticed. Even security forces during search operations fail to discover it. The route to one of such hideouts according to sources was beneath the water tank and it was busted only after Kishtwar police laid their hands on the high profile terror modules.
The sources said that the agencies are also probing role of some influential people including some cops who tried to support Rustum Ali when he was detained by Kishtwar police soon after the killing of Parihar brothers on November 1, 2018.
With the arrest of Rustum Ali, he is likely to spill the beans about the involvement of high profile persons who were helping and financing the terror related activities in district Kishtwar.
