DDC Rajouri reviews functioning of Social Welfare, ICDS, Transport Department

RAJOURI, Feb 10: District Development Commissioner, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh today convened a meeting with the officers of Social Welfare, ICDS and Transport Department to review the functioning and overall performance of these departments in the district.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Shama-Un Ahmed, Program Officer/DSWO, Naseeb Bajran, Assistant Regional Transport Officer Inzar Rana, Child Development Project Officers, Tehsil Social welfare Officers, Supervisors and other officials of the Departments.
The Program Officer ICDS/DSWO briefed the DDC about the overall performance of ICDS Programs in the district and highlighted the achievements. He gave a detailed overview about the activities including Supplementary Nutrition, Health Checkups, awareness to mothers regarding nutrition issues, Pradhan Mantri Matritva Vandana Yojana, Poshan Abhayaan, Scheme for Adolescent Girls and supply of nutrition items in respect of ICDS Projects in the district. The DDC also reviewed the status of disbursement of honorarium and procurement of the nutrition at project level.
While reviewing the functioning of Social Welfare Department, DSWO presented an overview of various welfare schemes of centre as well as state and scholarship programmes being implemented in the district. DSWO informed the meeting that 49557 beneficiaries are covered under Pensioner schemes like Integrated Social Security Scheme and National Social Assistance Programme. Under NFBS hundred percent Targets have been achieved. He further informed that 398 cases have been sanctioned under SMAS and 329 cases are being scrutinized and shall be submitted for sanction at the earliest. DDC asked the concerned to ensure effective implementation of all schemes in a focused and concerted way so that the desired objectives are achieved at the grass root level. He also directed to create awareness among the general public about various schemes of child development, women empowerment, health tips for adolescent girls through utilizing the latest methods of mass as well as social media at village and block level.
The DDC also directed the District Social welfare Officers to submit a survey related to the population of the old age and handicapped persons in the District. The DDC also sought a detailed list of all the beneficiaries trained in Social Welfare Centre for the last five years. He also asked the CDPO to ensure that all the six services under ICDS are being provided at Anganwadi Centres.
Earlier, the ARTO, Inzar Rana presented a power point presentation about the functioning of the Department. The ARTO briefed the chair that there are total 40987 Vehicles including Commercial and Non Commercial registered with MVD Rajouri.
