Speculations rife about important announcement soon by GOI | After 4G, is Statehood restoration next? | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Feb 6: A day after 4G in Jammu and Kashmir was restored after 18 months, speculations are rife that the central government may make importance announcement related to the restoration of statehood in the erstwhile state.
The high speed mobile data services were restored in twin J&K districts including Ganderbal in Kashmir and Udhampur in Jammu division on “a trial basis” on August 16, 2020. The services were suspended on August 05, 2019 when the government in centre abrogated the special status of J&K and bifurcated the erstwhile State into two Union territories.
Jammu and Kashmir government had on January 22 this year extended a ban on high speed mobile data services across the Union territory barring two districts till February 06.
Meanwhile, there are reports making rounds that the government of India is mulling to restore the statehood to Jammu and Kashmir and that this measure will be followed by the delimitation process. Jammu, Feb 6: The Peoples’ Alliance for Gupkar Alliance (PAGD) received severe setback as the newly formed Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party (JKAP) captured Srinagar and Shopian District Development Councils (DDCs) despite having less numbers.
Apni Party has only two members in the DDC Shopian but party’s candidates namely Bilquees Jan and Irfan were elected as chairperson and vice-chairperson respectively. Interestingly Gupkar Alliance with the support of Congress was in a position to capture Shopian DDC but due to lack of coordination Gupkar Alliance failed to mobilize adequate numbers.

Jammu, Feb 6: As his term as Rajya Sabha member will come to an end on February 15, Congress stalwart Ghulam Nabi Azad will be trying his best to get re-elected from Gujarat where by-elections for two Rajya Sabha seats will be held on March 1.
Wishing anonymity, a Jammu based loyalist of Azad told The Early Times that leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha will try to get mandate for one Rajya Sabha seat so as to remain active in the national politics.

SRINAGAR, Feb 6: The lifting of ban on 4G internet has brought a relief to the students in Jammu and Kashmir.
Post August 5, 2019, the internet was suspended till January 25, 2020. After resumption, the speed of the internet was restricted to 2G. It was badly affecting the business community, students, doctors, journalists, as they were not able to do their work due to low internet speed.
