No water since Independence 4/18/2014 9:29:57 PM Early Times Report Rajouri,Apr 18: Inhabitants, mostly belong to schedule tribe (ST) , of Keri and Gaiyan villages in Kalakot tehsil don't have any potable water supply scheme since independence. The villagers have been forced to collect water from natural sources after covering a distance between 2-4 kilometers. Mohd Shakeel and Abdul Rehaman said that most of the families belong to ST category and nobody including concerned MLA, MLC or any other political leader bothered to mitigate their problem despite several representations to them. When contacted by the scribes Rajiv Ghai, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), PHE said that the department has submitted projects reports to the higher authorities for those villages which have no water supply schemes. He added that as soon as the department will get sanctions from the higher authorities construction work will be started.
