Coalition has tainted candidates for LS polls | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 18: Mainstream parties like National Conference and Congress have set no criteria as far as fielding of candidates for the ongoing Parliamentary elections is concerned. Most of the candidates of these parties are the tainted ones. Be it the spurious drug scam, the scam of the adulterated food items, the sex scandal or the fake orders racket, the leaders of these parties, most of them the sitting MLAs have a hand in these evil deeds, the news about which was carried in the dailies from time to time. "The leaders of both the parties lack the qualities a dedicated servant of people should have. They know only one thing that is to get as much as wealth for them leave aside the spirit of serving the people. These are controversial figures who make it to the power corridors because of their political influence,'' said Mukhtar Ahmad from Baghat Kanipora. It is the people who have to bear the brunt of the poor performances or the wrong doings of these candidates once they assume the charge of different departments. They are non-performing and a stumbling block in accelerating the development of the state. Whenever any Minister or the Minister of state is found guilty, the Government assures action against him, which never happens then. The motive behind this is to buy time so that people forget about the incident. In fact the accused is shielded and kept at a place only known to the party superiors. "It is not much before that a Minister was charged by a lady doctor of attempting to molest her. What action followed even after the FIR was lodged against him. The Minister was not brought to the book. It has been rightly said that rules are for fools,'' said Tariq Ganaie of Safa Kadal. Like Tariq many people apprehend that tainted persons are due to get mandate for the assembly elections to be held in the later part of this year. People opine that the parties are busy in blaming each other with no party ready to look into its own faults. There is a defect in the political system of our country which is more dominant in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Family rule has been there for decades now which encourages only those politicians who are loyal to it doesn't matter how characterless they are. People opine that the only good time in the political history of Jammu and Kashmir was the 2002 assembly election. It was for the first time that the family rule was negated by the people. It was a big turnaround. But that was let go away because the politicians at that time were not mature enough. |
