Attri for firm steps against drug peddling, traffic rules violation

Jammu, Apr 18: in a bid to put a curb upon drug traffickers and traffic rule violators under his jurisdiction, AK Attri, DIG Rajouri-Poonch police range has instructed both the SSPs of Rajouri and Poonch districts to constitute special anti-drug and anti-traffic violation squads.
Devising a strict preventive strategy to deal with the menace of drug peddling and traffic rules violation, AK Attri has issued a fresh set of instructions to the Superintendents of Police of twin border districts viz. Rajouri and Poonch to chalk out strategies to deal with the menace of drug peddling as well as violation of traffic norms especially including teenagers driving. "These special anti drugs squad shall be entrusted besides taking actions against drug traffickers have to keep close watch/check on the import of drugs and narcotic substances from the outer areas as well as the marketing of the same in twin border districts" said DIG-Rajouri- Poonch.
DIG- Attri said, "Besides this SP Rajouri and SP Poonch have also been instructed to constitute special squads to keep a close vigil on the movement and activities of people involved in drug peddling and also to camps and programme to aware people about NDPS Act and the punishment of twenty years imprisonment and Rs one lakh fine to the person found guilty for drug peddling." Ashok Kumar Attri , DIG has also instructed district SPs of both the districts to constitute special squads at each police station which will check the violation of traffic norms. As per the directions issued by the DIG, these teams will hold special traffic 'nakas' on all the routes and will book all the traffic violators especially the teenagers. "Anyone involved in drugs menace will be booked under NDPS act while police will also act strictly against the traffic rule violations," DIG Ashok Kumar Attri said.
