Samba, Apr 18: One person was killed while two others were rescued after a part of the barrage on river Basanter collapsed owing to incessant raining here on Friday. 'The deceased has been identified as Bhim Chand s/o Nago Ram of village Kubri," sources said.
As per police sources the trio was catching fish under the barrage when the incident took place. "The incident took place today noon at village Salote of district Samba, when trio was busy in catching fish near barrage and got buried under debris after it collapses. Soon after getting the information, the police officers rushed to the spot and started rescue operation, sources said, adding, "the men and machinery/cranes was pressed into to rescue the trapped persons.'
"The injured were later rushed to the District Hospital (DH) Samba for treatment, sources said. Meanwhile a case in this connection stands registered at concerned police station and further investigation is on. |
