Budgam people reject NC's golden era claim

BUDGAM, July 23: The people of Budgam district reject the claims of the National Conference that it has brought the state out of the darkness and the last five years or so have been the 'Golden Era' as for as the development on different fronts is concerned.
There is no visible change on the ground as one can see the roads of the valley, particularly of the Budgam district that are in shambles and have not been paid any attention from the long time. The journey on these roads has become troublesome for the people.
The people belonging to the villages of Soibugh, Nasarullah pora, Dharmunah, Gariend, Wadwan, chattabugh, Gotapora,Sangam, Pymus, and Farashgund are up in the arms against the government for its failure to get their problems addressed.
These villages, as per the people, haven't been given a fair deal. These villages aren't any consideration for the authorities as if these aren't any part of the state, the locals believe. The drivers of the vehicles ferrying passengers are reluctant to ply their vehicles on the roads passing through these villages.
"The road connectivity from Soibugh to Beerwah and from Soibugh to Narbal despite being the vital in nature, haven't been upgraded over the years. Even the pleas of the people have made no impact on the concerned authorities," said Ghulam Nabi from Wadwan while talking to Early Times.
Ghulam Nabi went on saying that if repaired; these roads would have done wonders to the people of the area as it would have encouraged business community which otherwise is on the receiving end for want of the better road connectivity.
These villagers also crave for the health facilities as the Primary Health Center at Soibugh is the sole facility available to the huge population of these villages thus leaving them at the mercy of the God. People of these villages have to travel long distances for health check up and the tests.
"We have to carry the patients over the long distances and the facility in the form of SKIMS Bemina becomes our only choice then. The health facilities in our area are so poor that the patients with the simplest of the problems don't get well in the Primary health center, which is the only health facility at our disposal," said Zahhor Ahmad from Soibugh Budgam while talking to Early Times. Another problem that this area faces is the non availability of the drinking water which has taken toll on the health of the people of the area. It has caused huge inconvenience to the people living in these villages. "Our women folk suffer the most on account of the scarcity of the potable water as they have to cover long distances to fetch the water in the pitchers. Not only this. We have to request PHE for containerized water when it comes to occasions," said Abdul Majeed from Gotapora who was talked to by the Early Times.
