Vested interests attempting to sabotage traditional Hindu pilgrimages in Valley

Jammu, July 23: Traditional Hindu pilgrimages have never augured well not just with the separatists, but also certain quarters within the mainstream political parties of Kashmir who have continuously tried to stir up emotions by terming them as attempts to change demographic character of Kashmir or their adverse effects on the ecology and environment of the region.
Whether it is ancient Shri Amarnath Yatra or the Kounsar Nag Yatra in Shopian, self styled leaders of Kashmir have raked up irrelevant issues to sabotage the pilgrimage. Of late, certain media houses have joined hands with these elements to mislead the people of Kashmir against these Hindu pilgrimages. They have started debates in their publications against the 'ill effects' of these pilgrimages to rake up public sentiment against them. At a time when government is thinking to restart the Kounsar Nag Yatra in Shopian, Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) leader Zeeshan Pandit has issues press notes to media titled 'Kounsar Nag Yatra Polutes Environment', which is totally unwarranted.
Talking to Early Times, Sham Lal Sharma, Minister for PHE said such people are ignorant about the facts and they are only interested to play to galleries. "These people are left with no issues so they play such tricks and mislead people" he said.. Jugal Kishore Sharma, president, BJP, state unit said such people should show restrain themselves or they shall have to face wrath of their own people who have understood their designs. "Any type of yatra cannot be challenged on frivolous pretexts, this is a matter of faith of crores of people and one should show respect to other religion" he asserted.
Agnishekhar, a prominent Kashmiri Pandit leader said resumption of Kounsar Nag Yatra is a right step in right direction and nobody should try to make non baseless and misleading comments. "There is no threat to environment and all precautions are taken by the concerned agencies. It seems that kashmiri leadership is getting bankrupt in real issues and always tries to play with emotions of the people ." he regretted.
