Bharat Choudhary asks Govt to improve power scenario in J&K

Jammu, Aug 19: PDP has asked the government to improve the power scenario in view of growing dependence on the energy sector and public discontent against erratic power supply across the state.
"The overall power system in the state has become too faulty to cater to the genuine energy needs of consumers. Even metered areas are facing long and unscheduled power cuts much to the annoyance of public," said PDP Jammu East contesting candidate Bharat Choudhary during his visit to Chaughan Salathia where power supply has not been restored even after passage of 72 hours. Showing his commitment to project the genuine grievances of people before concerning authorities for the mitigation of the same, Choudhary along with party workers approached the PDD Office Parade to enquire about the matter.
Notwithstanding the misbehavior by staff present at that time, Choudhary maintaining his cool patiently narrated the facts before them and with his sincere efforts today transformer was installed and power supply was restored in Choughan Salathia after three days. Meanwhile people of Pakki Daaki told Choudhary that dirty water is being supplied in their locality which is unfit for consumption.
Choudhary assured them that he will take up the matter with the concerned department to ensure clean drinking water for them. Expressing serious concern over failure of PDD to ensure hassle free power supply, he said the transmission and distribution system has also deteriorated and most of the transformers are damaged, depriving the consumers of vital electricity facility.
"No sensible government can afford to deprive its citizens of energy facility despite receiving fat tariff bills monthly," he said cautioning that continuous negligence of the issue will have serious repercussions. "The people have a legitimate right to agitate against denial of their basic rights. The people are being forced to come to streets," he said. Prominent among those who were present are Ashok Jogi, Ram Surop Gupta, Praveen Gupta, Ritu Gondi, Neeraj, Parveen Akhtar, Ashok Tak and others.
