UDC demands construction of protection wall | | | UDHAMPUR, Aug 19: A team of Udhampur Development Council (UDC) comprising all its member toured whole town from Gangera hills to Nansoo village on the banks of sacred Devika river to view the situation after heavy raining some days ago. Team showed its concern about fear of landslides in whole area particularly Gangera hills closed to Housing colony Udhampur where last year due to landslides about fifty concrete houses were dashed to ground keeping in view of landslides in Uttrakhand, Himachal Pardesh, and most recently Maharashtra where hundreds of people have lost their lives and property and it is high time that our Govt should awake from deep slumber to check the things. President and General secretary of U.D.C. Anil Paba and Parvesh Parihar said that constructed protection wall along Devika has been damaged and due to its encroachment at various places would make havoc to masses residing along its side in near future during rainy season.They further said bridges on Devika near M.H.Chowk. , Omara more and Devika are in shambles and if necessary steps are not taken sometimes they will be washed away in the same manner as a bridge was washed away on Devika some days ago taking a precious life. They further said administration is directly responsible for the washing away of bridge and loss of precious. |
