Jammu, Aug 19: Sanjeev Prabhakar, the owner of Sanjeev Caterers has the distinction of introducing concept of marriage planning here.
Sanjeev joined Jammu club in April, 1986 as a catering manager. He did his schooling from Sainik School Nagrota and wanted to do something different in life unlike his friends who wanted to become doctors, engineers, Chartered accountants and Army officers. He was always enthusiastic towards catering and with the blessings of his mother today he has attained name and fame in catering industry not only in jammu but other parts of country also.
Sanjeev started his own catering business in 1989 with a small tent house and somewhere in 1990 he bagged the contract of running the cafeterias in medical college, Jammu. During 20 year long career in the catering and tent house business, he has seen a lot of changes in the same business. From a few community centers, road side catering, parks to Banquet halls. From Simple menu to lavish menu, from simple tenting assignments to big pandals.
“ When I started the business it was not considered as a career. Hardly any parents used to encourage their wards to start the catering business. But right now many big business houses have jumped into the banqueting and catering business,” Prabhakar told Early Times.
“This was possible due to the sheer hard work, dedication and innovative ideas. I kept making changes during my entire career from traditional old tenting to new chunri work done by skilled Bengali labour with light effect and many more and same goes to the food, from simple menu to multi cuisines menu with various live counters these all were introduced by my catering unit,” Prabhakar said.
“This all was achieved by traveling to neighbouring states like Delhi, Punjab and Chandigarh to learn about arrangements done by famous caterers there. I worked with banquets like Pari Mahal, Utsav” he said, adding that “Now I am working with Ranvijay Royal Retreats Hari Niwas, Jammu.” |
