JAMMU, Aug 20: Semifinals position has been cleared in both men and women sections of the ongoing inter-college chess tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus, here today.
The semifinals have been scheduled for tomorrow at the same venue from 9.30 onwards. Earlier, Post Graduate (PG) Departments, SPMR College of Commerce, Government MAM College and GGM Science College found berth in the last four stages in the men category.
Similarly, in women's category, teams reaching the semifinals are Government College for Women (GCW) Parade, GCW Gandhi and Government Degree College (GDC) Udhampur.

MEN: PG Departments beat GDC R S Pura 4-0: Utkarsh Pathania bt Ravi Kumar, Vishal Sharma bt Rahul Sharma, Kulveer Singh Parihar bt Rajinder Manhas and Aayush Pandit bt Sachin Kumar. SPMR College of Commerce beat GDC Hiranagar 4-0: Taranjeet Singh bt Shubam Sharma, Rachit Gupta bt Rammy Sharma, Atul Singh bt Lalit Sharma, Vivek Sharma bt Ajay Kumar. MAM College beat GDC Kathua 3-2: Nitname Singh bt Ankush Mahajan, Ankush Choudhary bt Pankaj Sharma, Shivam Mahajan lost to Abhishek Singh, Nikhil Dhawan lost to Vinod Kumar and (best v/s best) Ankush Choudhary bt Abhishek Singh. GGM Science College got walkover.
WOMEN: GCW Parade beat SPMR College of Commerce 4-0: Harsha Langeh bt Diksha Mahajan, Virsha Rani bt Harneet Kour, Navneet Kour bt Negam, Mansi Sachdeva bt Kajal Mahajan. GCW Gandhi Nagar 4-0: Geetanjali bt Nikita Dogra, Medha bt Prabhabati, Richa Sharma bt Diksha and Mehak Bakshi bt Vandana Rajput. GDC Udhampur got walkover. |
