Court awards 1 yr RI, fine to Matador driver for causing death to a person | | | Jammu, Aug 20: Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh today awarded one year rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 2000 to Vikas Sharma a Driver of Matador who was facing trial for the last 12 years in case causing death of person by accident. According to the police case, on December 12, 2002 an information was received by the P/S Nowabad to the effect that a scooter which was driven by one SubashPargal from Rehari towards Mohinder Nagar with his son namely Kapil who was sitting as Pillion and that when he reached near SBI Canal Road Jammu, a matador which was driven by accused in a rash and negligent manner, hit the scooter injuring both. Kapil later succumbed to the injuries and police registered a case and after completion of investigation present challan in the Court u/s 304-A RPC Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Jammu Amarjeet Singh Langeh after hearing Senior Prosecuting Officer JatinderAnand, prosecution has successfully established involvement of accused and further while awarding sentence Court further observed that the menace of growing road accidents and its fall out on the public safety is also to be required to be heeded to. Even on the safer roads, a driver cannot afford to be reckless given the inherent nature of consequences that result from such recklessness. With these observations one year RI and fine Rs 2000/-.
