2 swindlers held for Rs 7 lakh, sent to 7 day police remand

Jammu, Aug 20: police today claimed to have arrested two persons for alleged involvement in cheating a lady of Rs. 7 lakhs with the promise of providing her a home in Janipur locality of the winter capital. After their arrest the duo of swindlers were produced in court of law which sent the accused to seven days police remand.
"The accused have been identified namely Muzafar Ahmed and Mohd Iqbal of Hyderpora Janipur Jammu were arrested by Janipur Police who cheated a lady of Rs 7 lakhs with the promise of providing her a home, police sources said.
As per police sources, the accused persons took an amount of Rs 7 lakhs through account transaction for providing a home to the lady. However they later refused to return money and nor did they provided her any home.
"The aggrieved lady lodged the complaint with the Janipur Police alleging of being duped by the two persons. Subsequently concerned registered a case against FIR No. 82/2014 u/s 420/418 RPC against the accused persons," police sources said, and added that massive manhunt was launched to nab the two accused. Police sources said, "Following specific information about their movement in the area, a police team led by SHO Janipur Police Station Hilal Azhar raided the spot and effected the arrest of both accused absconding their arrest for the last seven days.
"After their arrest, the duo were produced before the court of law which remanded them to police custody for 7 days.
A senior police officer when contacted said that there are number of other complaints against these fraudsters, probe on the part of police is in progress.
