Congress workers want honest candidate for Kathua | | | Kathua, Oct 29: In a meeting of Congress workers which was attended by activists from Congress frontal organization like Youth Congress, NSUI, CSD, INTUC, MC & RGPR, it has been appealed to party high command to give party mandate to a clean image person. All the participants were of the similar opinion that the Congress high command should give mandate to a person who was dedicatedly working for congress for a long time and never involved in anti-party activities like he should not contested against Congress candidate in the last elections assembly elections in 2008. "He should be of clean image, honest and a new & young face of the party. That candidate should be highly educated & experienced in well advocating the cause of the people. Moreover that candidate must have secular credentials, honest and must be a ground level worker. The candidate must be free from any allegation and even leaders of other political parties must keep a respectful attitude towards him. Only person with such credentials can able to win the Congress seat with a respectable margin from Assembly constituency Kathua", they said. Pertinent to mention here that before 1996 the assembly segment Kathua remain reserved continuously for about 40 years for scheduled caste candidates. In 1996 Congress gave mandate to Subhash Chander Sharma son of ex Deputy CM Managat Ram Sharma by denying the mandate to two deserving candidates of that time Brij Mohan Sharma and Master Lal Chand Sharma of congress due to nepotism. In 2002 congress gave mandate to a scheduled caste candidate, Rattan Chand Krottara Retd. SP from Hiranagar, & in 2008 to a Rajput candidate Lal Singh ex MP was given the congress mandate. |
