Kulgam, Nov 10 : Stating regional parties in Jammu and Kashmir have lost credibility, former Chief Minister and leader of opposition in RajyaSabha, GhulamNabi Azad, today predicted that forging an alliance with the right wing BhartiyaJanata Party (BJP) will drown the regional parties. Addressing media men on the sidelines of public in Devsar area of South Kashmir's Kulgam district said that after the emergence of BJP government in New Delhi, regional parties in Jammu and Kashmir have changed their stance towards the BJP. "Regional parties in Jammu and Kashmir have lost the credibility by changing their stance towards the BJP." Azad told reporters, adding forging alliance with BJP to form a government will drown them "Kashmir was saved in recent floods with the grace of God; however nobody can save any party forging an alliance with the BJP. I'm cautioning every one of them that an alliance with the BJP to form a government will drown them, wipe them out," said Azad. Azad said that Congress party's primary goal in the upcoming Assembly elections will be to form a government on its own, however avoided a question regarding his party's stance on forming an alliance with the National Conference (NC) or the People's Democratic Party (PDP). GhulamNabi Azad without naming any party blamed the regional parties for creating misconceptions against Congress and said that the party's aim is equitable growth across the state. Earlier addressing a public gathering Azad said that he during his two half years stint developed Kulgam district by providing hospital like facilities. "During my stint I have established Kulgam district hospital, developed alternate Highway and given you other countless facilities." Claimed Azad. He also appealed the people to vote for the Congress candidate for Devsar constituency, Muham-mad Amin Bhat. |
