`Omar led Govt identified with crime, corruption, institutional erosion' | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Nov 10: Unlikely of a Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah is stooping too low while campaigning for his candidates that his own party men feel ashamed. For the last one week or so, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah while addressing election rallies in various parts of Kashmir is stooping too low that the heads of his party men bow with shame. Exhibiting total immaturity and ignoring the very fact that the coalition Government which he headed for six years is identified only with crime, corruption and Institutional erosion, Omar levels serious charges against some PDP candidates in a bid to tarnish their public image. Toeing the line of his uncle-hawk, DR. Mustafa Kamaal, Chief Minister is targeting some individuals to belittle the PDP. "Omar should talk as to what he has achieved during last six years, he should tell people how his Ministers including his heavy weights like Abdul Rahim Rather took refuge in court orders staying proceedings of the State Accountability Commission involved in corruption and misappropriation of public money," said a PDP leader while reacting to Omar Abdullah's statements wherein he has stated that PDP has become a safe haven for corrupt retired bureaucrats. He said that Omar should tell people how his Government promoted a culture of impunity in the state through its inaction and incompetence. "Be it instances of gross corruption and malpractices by Ministers and officials or crimes like the killing of Haji Yusuf by this Government Omar Abdullah adopted a standard practice of announcing meaningless probes to take heat off the moment" PDP leader said. "No probe has been taken to its logical conclusion but this attitude has resulted in serious erosion of credibility of all institutions of the state and Omar Abdullah for sheer lust of power is inflicting incalculable damage to the long term interests of people." Added the leader. "Even the tall claims of this Government of revamping SAC have fallen flat as all the Ministers including Chief Minister himself have no faith in this anti-graft body as all of them have got the proceedings of SAC against them stayed" PDP leader said in an apparent reference to the stay on proceedings against Chief Minister in the case of appointment of advisors to him. "There is a revelation that about Rs 5 crores were received by Haji Yusuf as political kick-back from a number of NC activists, Rs 40 lakh from a person hailing from Dooru, Rs 20 Lakh from Achabal, Rs 35 Lakh from Kokernag, 85 lakh from Ganderbal person whom Omar paid back the amount". He said that Omar has not only eroded the Chief Minister's chair but has also insulted it by putting the blame of 2010 killings on a retired police officer. "It is disgusting to hear from a Chief Minister that a police officer was responsible for 2010 killings" PDP leader said and added that the statement was a blot on Chief Minister's face. "What about the benami property of NC leaders, Dubai palm apartments, JK Bank smart card scandal, JK Cricket Association Scandal, BOPEE exam gate, 420 infant death scam in GB Panth Hospital" the PDP leader asked. He said that Chief Minister and his Uncle Sam should give an account of the wealth amazed by the family since 1975. "Uncle Sam should give an account of the immovable property he owns in Tangmerg" said PDP leader. In an assiduous attack on Omar Abdullah, PDP said that Omar has been all helpful to his friends and for that he would go to any extant. |
