Early Times Report
BUDGAM, Nov 10: Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has accused National Conference leaders particularly the Finance Minister Abdul Rahim Rather and his son of using money and ration to woo the voters in Charar-e-Sharief Assembly constituency of central Kashmir's Budgam district.
PDP senior leader and party's candidate for Charar-e- Sharief Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura said that Abdul Rahim Rather assigned the said job to his business tycoon son Hilal Rather who according to Lone is distributing cash and ration among the voters in remote areas of Charar-e-Sharief especially in Fresdab, Dhodkhatoo, Kandajan, Darwan, Nowgam, Batpora , Watkul , Kralgam, Kutbal and other far flung villages of the Charar-e-Sharief Assembly constituency.
Lone alleges that Hilal along with a band of nearly 20 people are seen in far flung villages on daily basis and are distributing tons of rice which actually was meant for flood affected people of Srinagar and Budgam district .
As per reliable sources the areas where Finance Minister A R Rather's son Hilal was distributing the ration have hardly been affected by the floods. PDP leader alleges that Rather has illegally provided this ration under the name of so called flood relief material. PDP leaders from Budgam have now filed a complaint before the Election Commission of India (ECI) to probe into this matter so that transparency prevails in the upcoming Assembly elections.
PDP leaders have also alleged that ration was looted from various godowns of Pulwama and Budgam and same was distributed among people in Charar-e-Sharief constituency just for the sake of getting votes.
"He has distributed 10 kg rice per family in thirty villages and this still continues under the nose of district administration. Finance Minister is also misusing his powers and violating code of conduct in convenience with the local administration. Power transformers are being sent to different villages and are being handed over to NC workers. To cite an example one transformer is kept in compound of Chaudhary Ghulam Mohammad NC Sarpanch of village Branwar. Another one has been kept in the house of Mohd Akbar Dar of Zahooma and 3rd one at Dalipora in the house of Muzaffar Sofi. Electric poles and conductor wires are being sent to different areas such as Watkul, Huladi etc for the sake of votes. Besides it cash is being distributed among voters of Charar-e-Sharief constituency at various places like Dhodkhatoo, Branpathri, Neegu, Jabbad, Kutbal etc" said Ghulam Nabi Lone senior PDP leader and candidate from Charar e Sharief Assembly segment while talking to Early Times
