Plantation drive held | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Nov 10: District Administration Kathua under SVEEP plan launched a plantation drive with the slogan of "One Plant One Vote" in collaboration with Kathua Forest Division. According to press release, more than 45,000 saplings will be planted across the district in next two months. The drive was launched by with Divisional Forest Officer Kathua, Vijay K. Verma among other officers from District administration at Forest Complex, Kathua. The drive will be carried at village level across the district upto the date of nomination for forthcoming Assembly elections. Forest Department is playing key role besides, Social Forestry and sister wings of Forest Department. NGOs and Panchayats have also been involved. Each eligible voter will plant a sapling on his name with a commitment to actively participate in the electoral process to strengthen democracy. Launching the first plantation drive with this unique theme in Kathua District, Bharat Bhushan, CEO SarthalLakhanpur Development Authority impressed upon the people to come forward and be a part for the development process by strengthening democracy. He said that a number of training programmes have been organized for officials and political parties apart from awareness programmes under SVEEP for a multipronged strategy to ensure free and fair election with greater public participation. The campaign will continue at Panchayat and Village level apart from plantation drives under the slogan One plant One vote at Kathua and Jasrota Ranges of Kathua Forest Division. AnshulGarg, Sagar Singh, DFO, Social Forestry, Kathua, Kuldeep Singh, Wild Life Warden Kathua, Kuldeep Kumar, ACF, Kathua, Anil Sharma, PO Thein Dam, SawroopChander, Dy, Director, FPF Kathua and seniorofficers of various departments and members of panchayat and prominent citizens were also present on the occasion. |
