Cong candidates avoiding Sonia- Rahul | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 12: Disappointed over the failure of the AICC president Sonia Gandhi as well as vice-president Rahul Gandhi in attracting crowd and convince people to vote for Congress, the party candidates are feeling alone in the ongoing war of election in Jammu and Kashmir. As the day of polling for the last phase is approaching nearer and the Bhartiya Janta Party is pumping its entire top leadership for campaigning on the remaining seats, the Congress candidates in the fray seem relying on their own strength and face. The situation can be gauged from the fact that some Congress candidates have even started avoiding the hoarding and banners of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in their respective constituencies. They have apparently realized that seeking vote on their own performance and credibility vis-a-vis BJP candidates is more realistic than depending upon the mother-son duo. According to the sources, the Congress candidates were not even interested for Sonia Gandhi's rally in M A Stadium as they were well aware of the fact that people would not turn up for listening to her but no one could dare to convey the same to party high command. On the other hand, the BJP candidates, majority of whom are contesting the Assembly elections for the first time in their political career, are overconfident not because of their capacity but the Modi wave, which has been intensifying day by day. "We are feeling like pitted against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and not the BJP candidates," said a Congress candidate on the condition of anonymity. There are at least six seats, going to polls in the last phase, where the Congress candidates are in a winning position but the situation is unlikely to remain same by December 20, he added. |
