Chandigarh, Feb 12: The Defence Veterans at Panchkula had expressed their desire for officer's institute at Panchkula on the lines of Defence Service Officers Institute (DSOI) established at Sector-36 Chandigarh to meet their societal obligations. According to press release, the Haryana Government offered the land (2 acres plot) at institutional rates for this project to meet the aspirations of the veterans. The 'Bhoomi Poojan' ceremony was graced by General Dalbir Singh, Chief of the Army Staff, today at Sector-26 Panchkula. A large number of serving and veteran officers were present for the occasion. The DSOI at Sector 26, Panchkula is centrally located and is in close vicinity of AWHO colonies located at Sector-27, Sector-20, Sector-12 and Sector-2 of Panchkula which have a fairly large population of Serving Defence Officers and Veterans. This institute will benefit approximately Three Thousand plus serving officers and Veterans. |
