Srinagar, Feb 12:Seriousness of the authorities to set matters right in the health department has always been doubted and a latest revelation had put the entire system in the quandary with the situation becoming all the more messy.
Around 50 percent out of the 18 registered private hospitals and nursing homes in the summer capital of the state have not renewed their registration. This is despite the fact that the registration of some of the private hospitals and nursing homes has expired more than five years back.
In reply to a Right to Information (RTI) application moved by Abdul Rashid Khan Resident of Gulberg Colony, Hyderpora, Dr. Anjum Afshan, Public Information Officer (PIO), Directorate of Health Services Kashmir has written that registration of eight private hospitals or nursing homes has expired and the renewal is under process.
The list compiled by Deputy Director Health Services (Headquarters) Kashmir and as quoted by the PIO clearly spells out that these eight private hospitals or nursing homes are operating without any registration certificate these days.
Registration of Classic Foundation Hospital, Hyderpora has expired on 2-8-2009 and since then the renewal is under process. Valley Orthocraft Nursing Home, Bishember Nagar was registered up to 2-8-2009 and since then the registration has not been renewed. Registration of Florence Hospital, Chanapora has expired on 14-1-2014 and the same has not been renewed so far.
New City Hospital, Tengpora-Batmaloo was registered up to 23-03-2014 and no renewal has taken place so far since then. Registration of Care Hospital, Bemina has expired on 13-11-2009 and since then the renewal is under process. Registration of Al-Ameen Charitable Trust, Hyderpora expired on 2-8-2014 and renewal is yet to be done.
Registration of Imam Hussain (AS) Foundation Hospital, Bemina has expired in 2012 and it has not been renewed so far. Registration of Al-Shifa, Nursing Home and Hospital, Qamarwari expired on 12-2-2014 and it has not been renewed so far.
All the private hospitals and nursing homes are registered under government order number 308-HME of 2006 dated 17-5-2006 read with order number 191-HME of 2007 dated 22-3-2007.
The RTI applicant had moved the application seeking details regarding functioning of un-registered hospitals/nursing homes at Srinagar in contravention of norms/criteria fixed by the Health and Medical Education Department. Khan had moved the application with the office of Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir who in turn asked the Director Health Services, Kashmir to furnish the necessary details.
The private hospitals/nursing homes whose registration is intact include Kidney Hospital, Sonwar, Modern Hospital, Zero Bridge, Srinagar, Khyber Heart Centre & Nursing Home, Nowpora, Srinagar, Khanam's Nursing Home, Hazuri Bagh, Srinagar, Ahmad Hospital, Nowgam, Ramzaan Hospital, Gogji Bagh, Srinagar, Sheikh-ul-Alam Hospital, Karan Nagar, Srinagar, Noora Hospital, Zainakote, HMT, Srinagar, Safa Marvah Medical Centre, 90 feet road, Soura, Srinagar and Mubarak Hospital, Hyderpora.
