NC spreading 'canards' to prevent PDP-BJP alliance
Re-elections not an option: Akther

Srinagar, Feb 12: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) emerging victorious in New Delhi with a thumping majority in the recent assembly polls has provided National Conference a chance to suggest to People's Democratic Party (PDP) through different means to opt for re-election in Jammu and Kashmir rather than forging an alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Sources told Early Times the NC leaders have asked their workers to spread a word of mouth that if AAP can get thumping majority in Delhi why PDP cannot get the same in JK. "There is no sincerity in what NC is trying to suggest. The party wants uncertainty to prevail and somehow wants to keep PDP and BJP away from power," said an analyst.
He said that many NC leaders believe that once the new political dispensation takes over in the state there is every possibility of it opening the files of NC and Congress ministers who were a part of the ousted Omar Abdullah regime. "NC somehow wants to buy time and its leaders know it very well that if PDP and BJP are unable to form the government they would remain safe and they would get enough time to regroup," the analyst added.
The Chief spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Naeem Akther, while talking to Early Times maintained that results of the Delhi assembly polls have had no bearing on the ongoing talks with the BJP.
"We are well aware about the notion that is being created. Our talks with BJP are on and we are trying to forge an issue based alliance with the party," he said.
Akther said that people who are trying to act as "well wishers" of PDP are doing it for their own vested interests. "We are looking forward to form an issue based alliance with the BJP and we want to sort out all the issues before the new government is formed," he added.
Asked would PDP opt for reelection, he said, "We are holding structured talks with BJP and there is no question of reelection at this point of time."
Soon after the AAP won the elections in New Delhi the NC spokesman Junaid Mattu issued a hard hitting statement saying that "PDP lacks spine and is indulging in a sellout with BJP."
The NC spokesman wanted to convey it to PDP that reasons given by the party to join hands with BJP are not satisfactory and it should go the AAP way.
Another PDP leader said, "We know it very well conspiracies are being hatched to prevent us from forming the next government in the state. We won't allow these conspirators to succeed."
