srinagar, Feb 12: Even as the Governor's deadline for filing APRs ended today, more than 200 officers including , eight IAS officials have ignored the order and have not submitted their Annual Property Returns (APRs). The IAS officers who dared to ignore the direction inlcude Dheeraj Gupta (former Adviosor Planning Commission, Government of India), Anal Kumar Gupta (Managing director of J&K's Handloom Development), Raj Kumar Bhagat (Member J&K Special Tribunal) Saleem Mohammed (Director, J&K Rural Sanitation), Dilshad Khan (Transport Commissioner) Basharat Saleem (Registrar Cooperatives Societies, J&K), Sajad Ahmad Khan (Special Secretary to the government Industries and Commerce Department) and Kritika Batra (on probation). The Governor had directed around 370 officers including IAS, IFS, IPS and KAS to file their respective statements by February 12. However, they have ignored the order and now it remains to be seen what action is taken against them. As per rules framed under J&K Public Men and Public Servants Declaration of Assets and other Provisions Act, 1983, the public servants are supposed to file statements of their properties every year to the general administrative department (GAD). They have to explain any increase in their properties. As per the rules, any officer who fails to file the return can be held liable of misconduct. |
